Description:
This position is for a MedSurg/Tele Registered Nurse.
The facility has 241 licensed beds.
It is a Level 3 Trauma center and a Certified Chest Pain Center.
The unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 24.
Patient types and common diagnoses include various cardiac, respiratory, neuro cases, and observation patients.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:5-6 on day and night shifts, with potential surge staffing ratios of up to 1:7-8.
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) have a ratio of 1:12.
There is support within the department with CNAs, a charge nurse who may have a patient assignment, and phlebotomy services.
IV/VAT, RT, and hospitalist services are available 24/7.
Telemetry monitoring is remote, supported by a telemetry technician.
The facility uses EPIC as the EMR, and at least 6 months of experience with it is required.
Key equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms.
Floating will be required within the region and scope of practice.
The role may include floating to various facilities based on needs.
Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift.
The schedule may require weekend rotation every other week.
There is a possibility of low census call, and travelers can be called back during specific hours for both day and night shifts.
Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off may be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and additional time must be added if contracted hours are not met.
Shift times are from 0645-1915 and 1845-0715.
The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks.
