Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Central line management - Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) - PIV starts - Wound care - Drain/tube management Description: The facility has 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 Trauma center. It serves as a teaching hospital and is a certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The unit has 32 beds with an average census of 28 patients. Patient types and common diagnoses include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder surgeries, appendectomies, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, small bowel obstructions, and NG tube management. Patient ratios are as follows: - RN to patient ratio during days is 1:4-6 and 1:5-6 during nights. - LPN to patient ratio during days is 1:4-6 and 1:5-6 during nights. - CNA to patient ratio is 1:10-11 or 1:16 depending on staffing. Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugars. Receptionists perform rounds and secretary duties. Charge nurses serve as resources to assist with all nursing care. Phlebotomy services are available where other than nurse draws are permitted. There is a respiratory team available 24/7. Hospitalists and intensivists are also available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring and tech support are provided. Technology and equipment utilized include EMR systems, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and patient monitors. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice. Travelers will be compensated for travel time when floating mid-shift. Scheduling includes weekend rotations every other week and no call requirements. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, but must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Shift times generally run from 0645-1900 and 1845-0700 with a schedule cycle of every 6 weeks. Scrub color required is navy.
