Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience License: Required License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation - Non-titrating Drips experience with Heparin, Lasix, Protonix Description: This position is for an RN specializing in MedSurg/Tele. The unit consists of a total of 20 beds. The patient population primarily includes transitional care and general MedSurg patients. Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, and wounds. The RN will provide care for mostly medical patients. Any service line can admit, so there may be encounters with general surgeries and other patients. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5. Support within the department includes one CNA for each section and a charge nurse who may take patients if necessary. There is 24/7 availability for phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, residents, and telemetry monitoring. The technology in use includes an EMR system and intravenous pumps. Float opportunities may occur within the scope of practice. Scheduling requires weekend rotation every other week, with holiday expectations of 50% in the contract. Approval for time off is allowed for up to 7 days. Shifts are scheduled in 6-week increments, with travelers positioned to fill scheduling gaps.
