Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry I/IMC MedSurg

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in this role demonstrates independent practice and a comprehensive understanding of clinical situations. This position requires providing both routine and complex care to patients with a mix of diagnoses and acuities, including respiratory issues, sepsis, and multiple co-morbidities. The nurse will work towards long-range care goals while managing contingencies related to clinical nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit competencies in line with applicable nursing leadership standards.
• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families, ensuring adherence to their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments as per protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and offer education to patients, family members, and caregivers while identifying issues and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related nursing specialty is required.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current BLS certification (AHA only) required.
• Current ACLS certification (AHA only) required.
• Valid RN License in the state of Texas or a compact state.

Position Requirements

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend a New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, ensuring the successful completion of competency validations specific to MedSurg nursing.
• Participation in a residency program or specific orientation is encouraged for newly licensed RNs.
• Annual competency verification requirements must be completed as mandated.

Work Schedule

Shifts will be scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM.
