Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry I/IMC MedSurg

Shift: Days 7 AM - 7 PM

Type of Patients: A diverse mix of diagnoses and acuity, including respiratory issues, sepsis, and multiple co-morbidities.

Summary:

The competent Nurse in this role operates independently in a clinical setting, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This position involves providing both routine and complex care, with a focus on achieving long-term goals. The Nurse will develop the capability to manage the complexities of clinical nursing and make appropriate assignments while delegating tasks to other care providers as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Meet expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Utilize the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families based on their level of care.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and offer education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers, identifying issues and resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact license.

Position Requirements:

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend a New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with initial on-boarding requirements validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and MedSurg specific competency validation.
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation.
• Skills and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program’s tracking software.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
