Title= Registered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg/Telemetry (Travel)
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 36 hours/week | Every Other Weekend | No Call

  • 637-bed Level I Trauma Center
  • Teaching hospital with advanced specialty services
  • Certified Chest Pain Center & Stroke Center
  • Large, high-acuity healthcare system
Unit Details
  • MedSurg/Telemetry units ranging 20–36 beds
  • Float pool model – travelers support multiple Med/Tele units
  • 2+ years MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
‍⚕️ Patient Population
  • General Medical-Surgical patients
  • Telemetry/cardiac monitoring patients
  • Wide variety of acute and chronic conditions
Patient Ratios
  • RN: 1:4–6
  • LPN: 1:4–6
  • CNA: Up to 1:14
Requirements
  • Active RN License
  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred (EKG competency exam required during onboarding)
  • MedSurg certification (preferred, not required)
Required Skills
  • Trach care
  • Chest tube management
  • Peripheral IV (PIV) insertion
  • Blood glucose monitoring (glucometer use)
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Drip management:
    • Insulin drips
    • Heparin drips
    • Cardiac drips (titrated to heart rate)
Support Staff
  • CNA: Vitals, glucose checks, ADLs, ambulation, patient safety
  • Unit Secretary: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM (overnight centralized support)
  • Charge Nurse: Yes
  • Phlebotomy: Lab-drawn; RNs draw from central lines
  • PICC Team: Available
  • Resource/Discharge Nurses: Yes
  • 24/7 Coverage: Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalists, Intensivists
  • Telemetry Monitoring: Central monitoring unit

Floating Requirements
