Description:
The registered nurse will work night shifts.
The shift hours are from 18:45 to 07:15.
The nurse will cover every other weekend.
Floating to other units may be required based on need and skill set.
The staffing ratio for nights is 1 nurse to 6 patients.
Patient age groups will include adults and geriatrics.
The medication system used is Omnicell.
Common patient diagnoses include stroke, TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post-heart catheterization, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, congestive heart failure, and sepsis.
This unit provides care for inpatient stroke and TIA patients.
Higher acuity medical-surgical patients are also admitted.
There is a strong focus on patient experience.
The unit is capable of performing peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation.
Required skills include accessing and managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, and chest tube management.
The nurse should be skilled in colostomy and ileostomy care, feeding tube care, insulin management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
Additional skills needed include telemetry monitoring, isolation precautions, and wound care.
The daily census is approximately 27 patients with 30 beds available.
Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
This position is open to individuals with the necessary qualifications and experience in the nursing field.
