The nurse will work in a 26-bed unit providing care for post-operative orthopedic patients. Responsibilities include managing comprehensive care for patients undergoing spinal surgeries. Patient diagnoses include medical/surgical, telemetry, cardiac issues, diabetes, and hypertension. The nurse will aid in pain management and coordinate with physical therapy and other support services. Special procedures include bedside lumbar puncture and post-surgical care. The patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 5-6. The facility prioritizes keeping staff in their designated units but requires floating as needed. Candidates should have prior experience in orthopedic care and proficiency in EPIC medical records. This role necessitates strong clinical skills and adherence to patient care protocols. Additional interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. Floating will be limited to areas where competencies have been documented. Position involves weekend shifts and may include requests for time off pre-approved by the facility. Compliance with facility policies and procedures is essential for all staff. The role will require participation in ongoing education and training as dictated by the facility.
