JOB DESCRIPTION
Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36
Shift Information: Shift start time; 1845- 0715; Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
On Call, Call Back Requirements: None
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend required
Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Floating Requirements: Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises

- Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
- Beds:
- 14 private rooms - no negative pressure capability
- Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience
- Will you accept a first-time traveler: No
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Transitioning from Med/Tele to PCU focus (not completed as of 12/11/2025)
- Heart Failure, Chest pain, patient requiring fluid resuscitation/blood products, COPD, Cardiac Cath pre/post
- Medical overflow
Patient Ratios:
- RN:
- 1:4-6, acuity dependent – surge times could increase to 1:7-8 (MedSurg/Tele)
- Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
- PIV starts, NG Tube placement/management, Pleurx drains, management of various surgical drains, chest tube management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titratable cardiac drips (Cardizem), TR bands etc.
Support within the Department:
- CNA s - assist nursing team to provide ADL s, bathing, foley care, mobility, turning and repositioning, trained to do phlebotomy, 12 lead EKGs, Glucometer
- Receptionist/HUC: None
- Charge nurse – may or may not have patient assignment
- Phlebotomy: Combined effort between RNs, CNA s, IV team
- IV/VAT Team: yes
- Resource Nurse - - when staffing allows
- RT 24/7 - assigned to multiple units
- Hospitalist 24/7: Yes, not unit based
- Telemetry monitoring - If tele ordered, our patients are remotely monitored in off unit arrhythmia center but Nurses station has visual capability to see EKG s

- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell

Floating:
- Within region and scope of practice
- Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
- Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises
- If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other
- No call
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
- Shift times: 0645-1915 and 1845- 0715
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
