Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Surg Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, focusing on acute conditions, especially those related to stroke and telemetry monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care for individuals experiencing stroke, TIA, seizure, pneumonia, chest pain, acute kidney failure, and more.
• Monitor patient vitals and manage telemetry, including the interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications and manage drips while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Manage care for patients requiring specific procedures, including peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.
• Participate in patient education regarding their conditions and treatment plans.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and infection control practices.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse with a current and active TN license.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Med/Surg or Telemetry setting. Charge experience is required.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system is preferred.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Knowledge and skills in IV therapy and phlebotomy are preferred.

Work Environment:

The Med/Surg Telemetry unit consists of 30 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6 on both day and night shifts. The daily census averages around 27 patients.

Schedule:

This position involves working night shifts, specifically 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with every other weekend coverage. Floating to other units may be required based on needs and skillset.
