Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Renal Unit position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Hospital-based 3N Medical Telemetry/Renal Unit with 31 beds
  • Patient population includes end stage renal disease, PD, fluid overload, sickle cell, DM, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7-8
  • CNA to patient ratio of 1:6-12
  • 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required within designated region and scope of practice to other facilities as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • No dedicated telemetry monitoring tech support
  • Support staff includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • General Med/Tele skillset required including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management
  • Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Facility has 207 licensed beds with no trauma designation and is not a teaching hospital
  • Facility includes a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Care coordination and case management support are provided as part of a larger clinical support team
  • Home unit assignment occurs on the first day of orientation
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers required to work 75% of scheduled holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any missed contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
  • Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available
  • Traveler's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the home unit; local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
