- Level I Trauma Center
- Teaching Hospital

- Stroke Center
Radius Rule: Traveler's permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
Unit Information- Unit Type: MedSurg/Telemetry (Resource Team)
- Beds: 36
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years MedSurg/Telemetry RN experience
- First-Time Travelers: Not preferred, but may be considered
Patient Population- High-acuity patients including:
- Post-op spinal surgery/spinal fusion
- Stroke and seizure patients
- Myasthenia Gravis
- Brain tumors/lesions
- Altered Mental Status (AMS)
Staffing & Ratios- RN Ratio: 1:4–6 (may increase up to 1:7–8 during surge)
- CNA Ratio: Varies
Required Certifications & Licensure- Active RN License
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (Stroke Certification)
Required Skills & Competencies- Strong MedSurg/Telemetry background
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Stroke care experience
- Trach care and airway management
- IV (PIV) insertion
- Chest tube management
- NG tube (NGT) placement
- Drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, Flexi-Seal, Foley)
- PCA pump management
- Post-operative mobilization (including spinal precautions, brace use)
- Pain management (including patients with substance use history)
- Neuro and spine post-op care and patient/family education
- Medication drip management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IV fluids)
Support Staff & Resources- CNA support (varies)
- Charge Nurse (24/7; may take patients)
- Receptionist / HUC
- Phlebotomy (peripheral draws only)
- IV/Vascular Access Team
- Resource Nurse (as available)
- Respiratory Therapy (24/7)
- Hospitalist & Intensivist (24/7)
Telemetry Monitoring: No monitor tech – nurses are responsible for rhythm interpretation and response
Technology & Equipment- EMR: Epic
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitoring Equipment: Masimo (vitals), Phillips (portable units)
Floating Requirements- Required within assigned region and scope of practice
- Must be agreeable to float across facilities in designated region
Regions:
- Region 2: Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division
- Region 3: Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division
Travel time between facilities (mid-shift) is paid
Scheduling & Shift Details- Shift: 12-hour Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours: 36 hours/week
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- On-Call: Not required
- Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks
Holiday & Time Off- Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days RTO (excluding holidays; may extend contract if needed)
Orientation- New Employee Orientation (NEO)
- 2 days unit/department-specific orientation
