Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 18 Months of Med/Tele RN Experience License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Med/Surg/Tele. The role involves working in an emergency observation unit with a capacity of 10 beds. The average daily census is around 8 patients. Patient types include those with chest pain, syncope, and angina. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with a CNA ratio of 1:10. General Med/Tele skills are required, including stroke experience and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Additional skills include trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management. Management of medication infusions, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids, is essential. Support within the department includes supervisors and resource nurses. The role involves floating to other nursing units based on patient care needs. Flexibility to adapt to various practice scopes across different units is necessary. The schedule involves weekend rotations every other weekend and holiday work with specific requirements. A collaborative team environment is emphasized, including activities such as unit book clubs and movie watching.
