Description:
Hiring Process: Candidate interview with the clinical team.
No unit manager involvement in the hiring process.
Week of orientation requires clinicians to be in state for the entire week, even if some modules are remote.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5-6 based on acuity.
Common diagnoses include cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology, post-surgical general surgery, gynecology, psychiatry, ENT, and general medicine.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, including heparin.
Designated charge nurse on each unit does not take a patient assignment unless necessary.
Nurse aids are available on the unit.
Respiratory therapy equipment, such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP, is utilized.
Scheduling is done by leadership for six weeks at a time.
Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling.
All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment.
Weekend requirements include 6-9 weekend shifts in a six-week schedule.
May be asked to join the holiday rotation.
A rare call or standby requirement exists for low census situations.
May be asked to float into any other acuity level, including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele.
Floating within an extreme need is possible.
Dress code allows any color scrubs.
Unit-specific orientation lasts 1-2 days with a preceptor.
Cancellation policy allows for cancellation of up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
Charting system used is EPIC.
BSN is not required.
This position is in an acute care setting.
Trauma level is 1.
