Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Telemetry - $1,995 per week in Durango, CO

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 15 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - 2 years of Telemetry experience - Prior neuro experience preferred Description: Hiring Process includes an interview with the clinical team. No involvement from unit management. Candidates must submit a valid driver's license. Clinicians must be in-state for the orientation week even if initial modules are remote. The float pool includes multiple units ranging from General Telemetry to various specialties such as Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation. Nurse to patient ratios are based on acuity, typically 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery post-appendectomy, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, General Medicine, and stable long-term placement patients. Registered Nurses may be required to titrate Heparin drips. A designated charge nurse is present on each unit, who may take a patient assignment if necessary. Nurse aides are available on this unit. The unit is equipped with respiratory treatment equipment, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP. Scheduling is made 6 weeks in advance by leadership. Travelers must be flexible and assist in filling gaps in the permanent schedule. All time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment. Weekend requirements consist of 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule. Nurses may be part of a holiday rotation. Call or standby requirements are rare and occur during low census situations. Assigning units may involve floating into different acuity levels, including low acuity holds in ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and Telemetry. Scrub colors and dress code are flexible. Unit-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for shorter assignments. The charting system used is EPIC.
