Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week. Patient ratios of 5:1, occasionally 6:1. Weekend requirement of 3 weekends (6 weekend shifts total between Saturday and Sunday) every 6 weeks. Self-scheduling model balanced by leadership based on unit needs.
Highlights:

Specialized pulmonary and general medical patient population including tracheostomy care, chest tubes, COPD, and asthma management
Electronic charting systems include Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, lift teams, and rapid response teams
24 hours of orientation provided with ongoing specialty-specific competency support
First-time travelers welcome with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact State license accepted)
Current certifications: BCLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Demonstrated proficiency in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
Adult and geriatric patients with pulmonary conditions and general medical diagnoses
Longer length of stay patients requiring comprehensive care coordination
Tracheostomy management, chest tube care, and non-invasive airway support up to BiPAP/CPAP (no ventilators)
COPD, asthma, and respiratory compromise requiring oxygen therapy and specialized monitoring
