Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / ED Holding Support (Float Pool) – North Carolina

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Target patient ratios of 1:6 for MS/Tele patients or 1:4 for PCU level patients. 12-hour orientation provided.
Highlights:
- ED Holding Support position within the Float Pool, caring for admitted patients awaiting inpatient beds with diverse medical/surgical diagnoses
- Contract duration flexible from 13+ weeks up to February 27, 2027 to support team through the holiday season
- Dynamic role with exposure to MS/Tele and PCU level patients; float opportunities to ED and MedSurg areas as needed
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
- Navy scrubs provided; manager-based scheduling structure
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Required skills: MS/Tele experience, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, insulin and heparin administration, isolation precautions, ventilatory support (CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula), ABG interpretation, airway management, trachesotomy management, chest tube care, colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure management, and use of rapid response teams
- Preferred skills: NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, central line blood draws, IV starts, CVA care, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac
- Ability and willingness to float between multiple units and campuses as needed
- Availability to work Storm Team/Hurricane Team assignments and respond during catastrophic events or disasters
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
