Clinical Nurse

Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. In this role, the nurse will coordinate and deliver patient care by utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting, with reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  • Participates in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
  • Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
  • Utilizes relevant patient education materials.
  • Assesses the readiness of patients, families, and caregivers to learn.
  • Evaluates the developmental level of patients and assesses factors affecting their ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Seeks guidance for revising the plan of care when necessary.
  • Participates in discussions with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient care evaluation.
  • Communicates relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, considering physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Performs bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Follows healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery.
  • Organizes and prioritizes care based on patient and family needs.
  • Consults with appropriate resources regarding complex care issues and discharge planning.
• Leadership:
  • Develops goals for professional growth with support.
  • Aims to achieve identified goals and objectives within a set time frame.
  • Participates in activities that facilitate collaboration across departments.

• Patient Assessment:

  • Prioritizes tasks effectively for patients with complex needs.
• Research:
  • Stays informed by reading professional journals and articles relevant to practice.
  • Engages with staff to evaluate the applicability of new ideas and questions.

Skills and Experience

• Required Skills:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
  • At least two (2) years of MedSurg/Tele experience is required.
• Required Education:
  • Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred Education:
  • BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Required Certifications and Licensure:
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC).
  • NIHSS certification is required.
