# Job Opportunity – Emergency Department Holding Unit Registered Nurse – North CarolinaStart Date: October 12, 2026Location: Wilmington, North CarolinaCompensation: Details provided to qualified applicantsSchedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week; every other weekend required; target ratios of 1:6 for MS/Tele patients or 1:4 for PCU level patientsHighlights:- Contract duration of 13+ weeks, with a hard stop date of February 27, 2027, supporting the unit through the holiday season- ED Holding Support position within the Float Pool, caring for patients awaiting inpatient bed placement- Patients present with a variety of adult medical/surgical diagnoses, including PCU-level acuity- Floating required to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as needed based on facility needs- 12-hour orientation provided; Epic charting system and Pyxis medication system in use- Storm Team and Hurricane Team assignment expected; may be required to report during catastrophic events or disastersRequirements:- Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required- Previous travel nursing experience required- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (required); NIHSS and CPI (preferred)- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date- Core clinical skills required: MS/Tele experience, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), Rapid Response Team utilization, blood product administration, feeding tube and colostomy care, renal failure management, peripheral and PICC line care, phlebotomy, heparin and insulin protocols, isolation precautions, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management- Preferred skills: IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, central line blood draws, IV starts, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vacWhy It's a Great Opportunity:This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced travel nurse seeking a dynamic, fast-paced environment where no two shifts are the same.
