Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Telemetry - $2,062 per week in Chandler, AZ

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights (self-scheduling) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, EKG Must-Have: EKG competency, cardiac monitoring experience, groin management skills Description: Clinical interview required prior to offer. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving an offer, with a maximum of 2 attempts. Failure to pass within those attempts will result in a 6-month do-not-use status. There will be a PASS/FAIL simulation lab on day 1 of orientation. Failure will result in dismissal from orientation and a 6-month do-not-use status. Candidates must not live within 50 miles of the facility. Driver's license must be provided upon submission. Unit has 29 beds, all private rooms. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4-5:1. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and EKG. Common diagnoses include renal, GI, sepsis, and mental health. RNs are required to manage drips, but not to titrate them, with common drips including heparin, Lasix, amiodarone, and Cardizem. Remote monitor techs are available; however, RNs must interpret strips and identify rhythm changes. Charge nurses will not have assignments, and house supervisors are in-house 24/7. Nurse aides are present only on day shift; night shift will require primary patient care in a 4:1 ratio. Respiratory therapy is available to assist 24/7, but the unit only manages patients on up to 6L oxygen and does not use BiPAP or high-flow therapy. RNs administer all breathing treatments. Self-scheduling is utilized; schedules are posted 4 weeks in advance. There are weekend shift requirements, with 3 weekend shifts required per schedule period. Holiday shift requirements are in place, including major winter and summer holidays. Standby shifts are required occasionally, as per staffing expectations. Floating typically occurs within similar service lines, without floating to other units outside of the hired skillset. Navy blue scrubs are required, and closed-toe shoes are mandated. Travelers have positive experiences and tend to return or transition to core staff roles. Client may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is done through an electronic health record system.
