Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our acute care rehabilitation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological diagnoses, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injuries. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and a strong understanding of rehabilitation principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and establish care plans based on individual patient needs.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs including blood pressure, respiration, temperature, and pulse.
• Conduct medication reconciliation and maintain accurate patient health records, including allergies and health history.
• Provide direct patient care such as dressing changes and the setup of aseptic/sterile procedure trays.
• Collect and label specimens for laboratory testing including capillary and urine samples.
• Respond to telephone triage, pharmacy calls, and patient refill requests efficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
• Acute care rehabilitation experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records is highly desirable.

Work Schedule

This position requires working three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Additionally, the nurse may be scheduled to work every third weekend and on holidays as needed.

Additional Information

This role will require the ability to float between various locations as needed. Patient care is provided in an inpatient rehabilitation department catering to patients with specialized rehabilitation needs. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:6, with some units having a 1:7 ratio based on acuity levels.
