Travel Med Surg RN Opportunity – New York, NY
Position: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical
Location: New York, NY
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Duration: 13 Weeks (Ends November 28, 2026)
Shift: Days | 3 x 11.5-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Schedule: 34.5 Hours/Week
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical RN experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- 1 year of travel experience preferred (required for travel positions)
- Active New York State RN License
- BLS Certification required
- Epic EMR experience highly preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing required (BSN preferred)
Unit Details
- Unit: 6W Medicine Unit
- Average Daily Census: 22 Patients
- 29-bed Medical Unit
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based patient care using the nursing process.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments while monitoring patient responses.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and disease prevention.
- Document patient care accurately in Epic EMR.
- Participate in bedside shift reports, purposeful hourly rounding, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned and support patient throughput.
