Job Summary:

The Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to acutely ill adult patients, including those recovering from surgical procedures (both elective and emergent). The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in a fast-paced hospital environment, maintaining a focus on patient safety, education, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

This role involves caring for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and post-surgical support, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and evidence-based nursing standards.

Department Overview:

The Medical Surgical unit specializes in the care of acutely ill adults and postoperative patients. The department provides continuous nursing support and advanced telemetry monitoring for patients requiring stable cardiac observation. Specialty certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing is encouraged and supported.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct and comprehensive patient care in accordance with nursing standards and hospital policies.

  • Monitor, interpret, and respond appropriately to telemetry data.

  • Administer medications, monitor IV infusions, and evaluate patient responses to treatment.

  • Collaborate with physicians, ancillary staff, and other nurses to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.

  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, postoperative care, and health maintenance.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR (Epic).

  • Uphold infection control, safety, and quality standards at all times.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
