Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg/Tele Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: Compact or State License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: - Telemetry Interpretation and Management - Post Angiogram, MI, Cardiac Cath, and Sheath Removal - Blood Product Administration - Central Line, Peripheral Line, and PICC Line Care - Starting IVs - Titration of Cardiac Drips - Wound Care/Management Description: Please ensure the traveler is aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting the role, the unit manager may assign the traveler to an "Emergency Team" where there will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes. Specific details will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing the travel contract, the traveler accepts the above and will report as assigned by the immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. The traveler should not apply for this role if not comfortable with the above. Unit will accommodate first-timers with 2 years of experience. Patient diagnoses include chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, diabetes mellitus, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, hypertension, myocardial infarction, renal failure, pulmonary embolism, congestive heart failure, GI bleed, and syncope. There is always a potential for med-surg overflow (e.g., GI bleed, sepsis, CVA, COVID positive). Special procedures and unit details include pre/post cath lab, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), titration of drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, heparin), and sheath pulling at bedside. Travelers can be pulled to all other inpatient units. Scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed. Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs. Staffing and scheduling will follow a six-patient ratio per nurse on days, nights, and weekends. This unit serves adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of 24. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. Candidates must be over 65 miles from the facility. Two years of experience in specialty is required for all locations. References from two managers or supervisors will be required to obtain clearance to start the contract. NURSYS reports must be sent with the profile and must be up to date.
