Job Title: Med Surg/Tele RN Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg/Tele RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS preferred Must-Have: PEDS experience is required. Strong skills in Neuro and Cardiac are essential. ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications are required. PALS certification is preferred. Description: The unit has 24 beds with Med Surg and Tele capability on all beds. It is heavily focused on telemetry. Patients include adults and pediatrics, but travelers do not take pediatric cases; these are assigned to permanent staff. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, adjusting based on acuity. Nurse managers do not provide patient care but perform rounds. Staff support includes tele techs, charge nurses, healthcare unit coordinators, and patient care technicians. Traveling nurses float to all Med Surg units and ICU, taking Med Surg overflow patients. Hospitalists are in-house 24/7, with respiratory therapists and pharmacy support available around the clock. Scrubs may be of any color except all black, but are not provided.
