Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

• Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Massachusetts State RN License held in hand at submission.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum 1–2+ years of dedicated Med/Surg Acute Care RN experience in an acute care setting.
• Core Certification Required: Active AHA BLS.
• Immunization Mandate: Candidate must have documented Flu Vaccine prior to start.
• Logistics & Shift Commitment: Traveler must have personal vehicle/transportation on-island and explicitly agree to the Day/Night shift rotation.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Hospital in Oak Bluffs, MA is seeking an adaptable Medical/Surgical Acute Care Registered Nurse (RN Med/Surg) for a 13-week contract in the Acute Care Unit (Department MV6030 / SO00000665). Operating within an island critical-access facility, the RN will manage a broad spectrum of medical, post-surgical, and telemetry-monitored adult patients.

• Acute Care Nursing Management: Provide direct bedside nursing care for medical and surgical patient populations, including routine assessments, continuous vital signs, wound/incisional care, and drain management.
• Medication Administration & Telemetry: Administer oral, IV, and subcutaneous medications; maintain telemetry monitoring and recognize dysrhythmias and acute clinical status changes.
• Patient & Family Education: Facilitate discharge planning, patient teaching on wound care, surgical recovery, and home medication compliance in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Island Care Coordination: Coordinate closely with hospitalists, case management, and mainland transfer logistics for patients requiring tertiary interventions.
