Travel RN Job Requirements
- Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Current NIHSS certification
- Current CPI certification, as required for compliance
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring experience
- Epic experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition
- Care for patients with diagnoses including sepsis, urinary tract infections, acute kidney injury, pneumonia, cholecystitis, and congestive heart failure
- Administer medications, blood products, insulin, heparin, and non-titrated cardiac or vasoactive infusions according to orders and facility policy
- Manage peripheral and central lines, PICC lines, ports, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, ostomies, tracheostomies, and wound care needs
- Provide respiratory support, including oxygen administration, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP management
- Perform patient assessments, medication reconciliation, care planning, documentation, and patient education using Epic
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, radiology, phlebotomy, social services, and rapid response teams
- Respond appropriately to clinical deterioration, dysrhythmias, and emergency situations
- Float within the specialty and scope of practice while maintaining high standards of patient care
