Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – 16-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio
Travel Registered Nurse opportunity in Columbus, Ohio, providing medical-surgical telemetry and oncology care to adult and geriatric patients. Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nursing

- Contract Duration: 16 weeks, ending February 22, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; rotating days or nights
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Day Shift: 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
- Night Shift: 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Variable based on unit needs
- Healthcare Setting: 36-bed medical oncology and benign hematology unit
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratios: Goal of 1:4, with assignments of up to 1:5
- Charting System: Epic computerized charting
- Orientation: 72 hours
Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent acute-care medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Current, consistent experience in the applied specialty within the past 12 months
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Experience with computerized charting; Epic experience required
- Ability to administer blood products, manage central lines, access and manage ports, start and maintain IVs, and follow isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols
- Oncology nursing experience preferred but not required
- Oncology certification or chemotherapy administration experience preferred
- Willingness to float to other medical-surgical oncology units
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex medical-surgical, telemetry, and oncology needs
- Care for patients with breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, as well as patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and promptly report changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, blood products, and therapies in accordance with established clinical standards
- Access and manage ports, perform central-line blood draws, maintain IV therapy, and provide tracheostomy care as needed
- Use infection-prevention and fall-prevention practices consistently
- Support patients across the cancer-care continuum, including new diagnosis, active treatment, symptom management, and end-of-life care
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
- Collaborate with providers, pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, social services, radiology, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Float to other medical-surgical oncology units and adapt to changing patient-care needs
