Travel Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Columbus, Ohio
Travel Registered Nurse needed for a 16-week medical-surgical telemetry contract in Columbus, Ohio, caring for adult and geriatric oncology patients on night shifts. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Duration: 16 weeks, through February 22, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Shift: Nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
- Unit Focus: Medical-surgical telemetry and oncology nursing care
- Orientation: 72 hours
- Scheduling: Weekend coverage varies based on unit needs; floating to other medical-surgical oncology units may be required
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of current acute-care medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience, with consistent work in the specialty within the past 12 months
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Recent experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, chemotherapy administration, and oncology patient care
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to care for patients with complex oncology diagnoses, including endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers
- Experience with central line care, IV therapy, blood product administration, feeding tubes, surgical drains, tracheostomy care, PCA pumps, and Foley catheters
- Completion of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Oncology Nursing Society chemotherapy certification is preferred
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive bedside nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex medical-surgical and oncology needs
- Administer chemotherapy and monitor patients closely for adverse reactions and changes in condition
- Monitor telemetry, interpret cardiac dysrhythmias, and initiate appropriate interventions
- Support patients receiving brachytherapy, continuous bladder irrigation, clinical trial treatments, and neobladder care
- Manage IV therapy, central lines, blood products, feeding tubes, PCA pumps, epidurals, NG tubes, surgical drains, and Foley catheters
- Maintain vigilant infection prevention and fall prevention practices
- Complete accurate patient assessments and timely documentation in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other support departments
- Recognize and respond promptly to patient deterioration and changing care needs
- Float to other medical-surgical oncology units as needed to support continuity of care
