Job Title: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry Profession: RN Specialty: Medical / Surgical / Telemetry Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Certification Must-Have: Cerner and Epic EMR experience Description: This position will provide support for the unit as preparations are made for an EMR go-live. Cerner and Epic EMR experience is required. Prior to the end of the assignment, unit needs will be assessed, and an extension could be offered. The traveler will be responsible for self-studying telemetry strips upon acceptance. A basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week of assignment. This test must be passed in order to work within the unit. The role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with other health team members. Effective interaction with patients, significant others, and health team members is expected while maintaining high standards of professional nursing. High quality care will be provided to the following patient populations: geriatric, medical/surgical, adult, and telemetry. While the traveler will not be part of a regular call rotation, they may occasionally be placed on call during periods of low census. If called in, the traveler is expected to respond and arrive on-site within one hour. Floating is a requirement for non-critical care inpatient units including to the emergency department if there are boarded patients. If the traveler has critical care experience, they may occasionally float to critical care units. Every other weekend rotation is required. Telemetry ratios are currently 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights. Medical/surgical ratios are currently 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights.
