Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day and Night rotating shifts Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience required License: Valid state license required Certifications: BCLS Must-Have: - Oncology experience preferred but not required - Epic experience required - Previous travel experience preferred Description: This position involves working in an Oncology unit with a focus on adult and geriatric patient care. The majority of patients admitted have needs related to continuous cardiac monitoring and chemotherapy administration. Responsibilities include symptom management secondary to disease treatment or progression and management of comorbidities. There will be a strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention. Registered Nurses will be responsible for interpretation of dysrhythmias and accessing ports. Additional tasks include arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care. Nurses will also be tasked with managing high flow nasal cannulas and assisting with chest tube insertion and removal. Candidates must have experience with IV starts and able to work with telemetry systems. The expectation is to manage patients with complex diagnoses such as various cancers and sickle cell crises. Interdisciplinary support includes services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The unit has a structured patient care approach which prioritizes high-quality oncology care. Candidates must have the ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity if required. Reference requirements include 2 professional references, with at least one from a formal leadership role. This role requires compliance with credentialing procedures in alignment with state regulations.
