Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Profession: RN Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Certification Must-Have: ACLS Required Cerner EMR Experience Required Description: The traveler will be responsible for self-studying telemetry strips upon acceptance. A basic dysrhythmia test will be administered in the first week of assignment. This test must be passed in order to work in the telemetry/med-surg unit. Delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with other health team members. Effectively interacts with the patient, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining high standards of professional nursing. Provides high-quality care to the following patient populations: geriatric, medical/surgical, adult, and telemetry. The estimated work week is 36 hours, with the possibility of additional hours. While the traveler will not be part of a regular call rotation, they may occasionally be placed on call during periods of low census. If called in, the traveler is expected to respond and arrive on-site within one hour. TeleMETRY ratios are currently 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights. Med/Surg ratios are currently 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights. Floating is a requirement in all non-critical care inpatient units, including the emergency department if there are boarded patients. If the traveler has critical care experience, they may occasionally float to critical care units. ACU requires every other weekend rotation. Cerner EMR Experience is required. The traveler will be responsible for self-studying telemetry strips and must pass a basic dysrhythmia test to work in the designated unit.
