Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract.
Candidates must have no license or background hits.
Description:
Nurses will pass a pass/fail exam during orientation.
This is an open book exam on skills learned, and all necessary resources will be provided to pass.
A minimum score of 90% is required to pass the exam.
The unit focuses on MedSurg and Telemetry patients, including those who have undergone strokes, have stable neurological deficits, or are post-neurosurgery.
Other patient types include those with joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbation, cellulitis, sepsis, and more.
Nurse-patient ratios are 1:5-6.
Nurses will be responsible for titrating drips such as heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine.
Charge nurses are available on each shift and will take on an assignment.
Patient care techs will be present with a ratio of 1:10-20.
There are telemetry techs who will interpret strips, but nurses should have some telemetry awareness.
Shifts are scheduled from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700.
Weekend requirements include at least every other weekend.
Holidays require working 2-3 shifts from Thanksgiving to New Year’s.
Floating to other medical-surgical areas may be required based on patient needs.
Scrubs should be navy blue and are required for the role.
Mechanical lifts are available in every other room.
The unit places a big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness.
Nurses will manage a busy assignment which includes multiple discharges and admissions daily.
Success on this unit requires good attendance, teamwork, friendliness, compassion, and a strong focus on patient care.
The patient population includes individuals from various cultures.
Charting will be done using an electronic system.
A BSN is not a requirement for this position.
This is an acute care setting with a trauma level of 1.
