Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse on the 4th floor, focused on MedSurg and Telemetry patients.
The unit treats various medical and surgical conditions, including neurology patients.
Patients may include those who have experienced strokes, stable neurological deficits, and post-neurosurgery procedures.
The bed capacity for this unit is 25, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6.
Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbations, and more.
RN's are required to titrate certain medications including Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine.
Charge nurses are present on each shift and will take an assignment.
Patient care technicians support RNs on the unit with a typical ratio of 1:10-20.
Telemetry technicians will interpret strips, but RN's should have some awareness of telemetry.
Shifts start at 0630-1900 and 1830-0700.
Weekends require at least every other weekend, with additional shifts based on unit needs.
Holiday coverage includes 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year.
Floating to other medical surgical areas may be required based on patient needs.
RNs are required to wear navy blue scrubs.
Mechanical lifts are available in every other room.
Hourly rounding and responsiveness are emphasized on this unit.
Nurses should manage daily operations efficiently and prioritize patient care.
The unit serves a diverse patient population.
