Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or an active compact-state RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of recent permanent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Active NIHSS certification
- Strong telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and rhythm recognition skills
- Ability to complete required orientation assessments and clinical competencies
- Professional reference from a manager, supervisor, assistant nurse manager, or director in the specialty within the past 12 months
- Ability to meet applicable background screening, health screening, and onboarding requirements
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical telemetry patients during overnight shifts
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments while developing and updating individualized plans of care
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
- Document patient care clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record
- Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and adherence to hospital and nursing standards
