Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Solid Organ Transplant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large, urban hospital License: Active nursing license in the required state Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: - Experience with EPIC charting - Drip management experience - Ability to float to various units as needed Description: This position offers a 36 or 48-hour option with a 13 or 26-week contract. Responsibilities include providing medical surgical and telemetry care to adult pre and post-transplant patients. The unit has a 36-bed capacity and serves both adult and adolescent patients. Ratios are generally 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Night ratios can occasionally be 1:7. The nursing team will frequently float to meet staffing needs. The facility requires that travelers work 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period. Major holidays must be covered as required. 100% nicotine-free facility. Additional team support may include care techs, transport teams, and LPNs. The unit caters to patients undergoing liver, kidney, pancreas, and intestinal transplants. Documentation and charting must be completed using EPIC. Travelers should be prepared for extensive wound care and surgical drains. The unit has access to various interdisciplinary support services. All travelers must submit their requested time off upfront with their application. There is a mandatory charting class on the Friday of the orientation week.
