Job Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 26, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day/Night rotation, 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730), every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days/nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period. Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift for patient care.

Highlights:
  • Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with adult and geriatric patient population
  • Daily census of approximately 20 patients in a 25-room unit
  • Epic charting system in use
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
  • Unit serves Family Medicine service patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses
  • Magnet-designated facility recognized as a leading hospital and teaching institution
Requirements:
  • Active RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in specialty (within the last 3 years)
  • BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs required
  • Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start date with strict passing criteria including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% overall passing score
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Essential Skills:
  • Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Central line and PICC line management
  • IV therapy including heparin and insulin administration
  • Wound care and surgical drain management
  • PCA pump management
  • Feeding tube care and oxygen administration
  • Isolation precautions and infection control
  • Experience with substance withdrawal patients and law enforcement/corrections patients preferred
