Job Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN), Medical-Surgical/Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotation: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730), every other weekend rotation, and holidays as needed

Highlights:
  • 28-bed acute care medical-surgical/telemetry unit within a Magnet-designated academic medical center
  • Fast-paced environment caring for adults and geriatrics with complex medical diagnoses including general internal medicine, geriatrics, and special pathogens/infectious diseases
  • Epic EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
  • 20 hours of orientation provided; floating to like units as needed
  • Travel assignment requiring two years of recent acute care experience and successful completion of telemetry competency exam
  • Daily census of 28-29 patients on a dedicated teaching unit within a top-ranked academic hospital
Requirements:
  • Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
  • Minimum of two years of acute care experience within the last three years in medical-surgical/telemetry specialty
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Must pass facility telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score, maximum three attempts with remediation)
  • Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Essential Skills:
  • Telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management
  • Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
  • Titration of insulin drips and oxygen administration
  • Isolation precautions/PPE and non-invasive airway management
  • Utilization of rapid response and code teams
