The unit specializes in orthopedic spine care, focusing on post-operative patients from spinal surgeries. Patient diagnoses include medical/surgical, telemetry, cardiac issues, low-risk acute coronary syndrome, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE. The nurse will be responsible for managing comprehensive care, including pain management and physical therapy. The typical patient ratio is 1:5-6, providing an opportunity for meaningful patient interaction. The nurse will have opportunities to perform special procedures such as lumbar punctures and post-surgical care. Additionally, interdisciplinary support is available from various teams including IV therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Flexibility to float to other units as needed is a requirement of this position.
