    Opportunity:

    RN - Med Surg/Tele

    Job Details:

    • Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
    • Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed
    • Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless requested by the employee
    • Minimum 36 hours off required between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift for patient care
    • Travelers are required to float as needed
    • 2 years of acute care experience in specialty required within the last 3 years
    • Experience starting IVs required
    • RN license required
    • BLS required - AHA only
    • EPIC experience required
    • Telemetry exam must be passed prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher; traveler has two attempts to pass
    • Adult telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole) and no incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
    • Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
    • Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections patients; staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer when assisting these patients
    • Skills required include: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, feeding tube care and management, heparin, insulin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, PCA, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, telemetry, wound care/wound vac, and previous law enforcement patient care
    • Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary

The facility operates a 25-room unit with a daily census of 20 patients and offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support services. The unit features a specialized locked wing with double doors dedicated to Department of Corrections patients, ensuring a safe and structured care environment for all patients and staff.
