    Opportunity:

    RN - Med Surg/Tele

    Job Details:

    • Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts with hours of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
    • Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless an exception is made at the employee's request
    • Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift if the day shift is for patient care
    • Every other weekend rotation required with holidays as needed
    • Travelers are required to float as needed
    • Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
    • Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections patients; staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer while assisting these patients
    • Self-scheduling unit with a daily census of 20 and 25 rooms
    • Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more
    • 2 years of acute care experience in specialty required within the last 3 years
    • Experience starting IVs required
    • EPIC charting system experience required
    • Must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher; two attempts allowed
    • Adult Telemetry Exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole) and no incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
    • Pediatric Telemetry Exam requires identification of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia
    • Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), RN license
    • Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draw, feeding tube care and management, heparin, insulin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, PICC line management, PCA, and previous law enforcement patient care experience

The facility offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support services including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation. The unit operates with a daily census of 20 patients across 25 rooms and serves a diverse patient population including adult med/surg, geriatric, and Department of Corrections patients.
