Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with expertise in Medical Surgical and Ortho Trauma/General Surgery. The ideal candidate will possess essential nursing skills and certifications required for managing patients with severe injuries and neurological trauma.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required within the last 5 years.
• Traveler Experience: Open to first-time travelers.
• Local Candidates: Accepted with no rate difference.
• Skills Required:
  • Heparin drips
  • PCA and Colostomy care
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central and peripheral line care/management
  • Phlebotomy
  • PICC line management
  • IV starts
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE
  • Traumatic brain injury management
  • Surgical drains and chest tube care
  • Nasal cannula and oral suctioning
  • Tracheostomy management
  • Wound care
  • Epic documentation experience
• Certifications: Active RN license and BLS certification required.
• Preferred Skills:
  • ACLS certification
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
  • Management of drips
  • CVA management
  • Pre/Post Neuro Surgery
  • Spinal cord injuries

Job Details

• Target Ratios: 1:5-6 (must be comfortable with these ratios).
• Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM).
• Hours: 36 or 48 hours accepted.
• RTO: Maximum 7 days for auto offer.
• Float Requirement: May float to similar units and alternate care locations.
• Weekend Requirement: Expected to work every other weekend.
• Emergency Response: Must be prepared to work in storm or hurricane team scenarios and report to work during catastrophic events or disasters.

Patient Population

Patients may present with severe injuries to bones, joints, or soft tissue; traumatic brain injuries; spine injuries; pain; and neurological trauma or nerve damage in a small population.

• SBAR

Orientation

12-hour unit orientation followed by 16 hours of organizational education.

Uniform

Scrubs required: Navy color.

Additional Information

Must pass EKG testing prior to the start for this specialty.
