• Work Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week (3x12-Hour Shifts). Every other weekend rotation required.

• Holiday Policy: Required for any holiday that falls on regularly scheduled shift rotation. No on-call requirement.

Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

• Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Florida State RN License or active eNLC Compact RN License held in hand at submission.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of recent Medical-Surgical RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Mandatory Certifications: Active AHA BLS.
• Clinical Adaptation: Experience managing bariatric surgical patients, post-operative gastrointestinal care, and complex acute medical-surgical populations preferred.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Hospital in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN Med/Surg) for a 13-week night assignment in Bariatrics Unit 001 (Department 20750). Operating within a prominent historic acute care hospital along the St. Johns River, the RN will direct bedside care and post-operative monitoring for metabolic, bariatric, and complex general surgical/medical inpatient populations.

• Post-Operative Bariatric & Surgical Care: Direct specialized post-operative care, airway monitoring, surgical site assessments, and early ambulation protocols for bariatric surgical patients (e.g., gastric sleeve, gastric bypass) and general medical-surgical admissions.
• Acute Patient Assessment & Clinical Monitoring: Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, monitor vital sign trends, track intake/output, and rapidly recognize postoperative complications or physiological deterioration.
• Pharmacotherapy & Pain Management: Administer IV push medications, continuous infusions, PCA pumps, surgical wound care, fluid resuscitation, and multimodal pain management protocols.
• Multidisciplinary Coordination & Education: Collaborate closely with surgical teams, bariatric coordinators, physical therapy, and nutritionists while providing strict pre-discharge diet and recovery education to patients and families.
