Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Telemetry - $2,796 per week in Wilmington, NC

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department Holding / Float Pool – North Carolina

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Target patient ratios: 1:6 for Medical/Surgical/Telemetry patients or 1:4 for Progressive Care Unit level patients. 12-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

• ED Holding Support position located within the Float Pool, caring for patients in the Emergency Department awaiting inpatient bed placement
• Mixed acuity patient population including Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit level adult patients with various diagnoses
• Contract lengths from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027 to support the facility through the holiday season
• Float to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as needed based on facility requirements
• Epic electronic medical record system with Pyxis medication dispensing and SBAR communication protocols
• Fast-paced environment with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and Social Services

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Core competencies required: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry experience, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure care, blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, heparin and insulin protocols, isolation precautions, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, ABG interpretation, airway management, and tracheostomy care
• Preferred skills include NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, hemodialysis management, port access, central line blood draws, IV insertion, CVA care, neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury management, traumatic brain injury care, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement care, and wound care/wound vac management
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Ability to complete 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
