Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 or 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of prior Telemetry experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: Epic charting experience required Description: Travelers must float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the hospital. This is an inpatient care unit intended to design, test, and validate new models of care, innovative technology, and facility design. The unit consists of patient rooms that are divided into zones. Each zone is intended to test various room designs, equipment, or processes. The primary patient population consists of adult medical-surgical patients. The unit practices a primary nursing care model, where one RN is assigned to a group of patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. Current projects include virtual nursing, virtual sitter and ambient monitoring, interactive patient experience platform, and real-time location systems. Drips are required on all floors. RNs may float to meet facility needs, including potentially floating to other campuses. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Patients may have acute or chronic pulmonary diseases, acute or chronic kidney disease, and gastrointestinal disorders. The unit does not cater to labor and delivery or pediatrics. All travelers must be 100% nicotine-free. Travelers are required to work two out of three major holidays. Requested time off must be submitted with application. RTO policies allow for up to two weeks of requested time off.
