Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Description

The Float Pool Registered Nurse will provide care throughout the hospital in various Med/Surg Tele areas, including multiple units. This position requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of different patient populations across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac patients, manage cardiac drips, and accurately interpret telemetry strips.
• Provide care for patients in emergency departments, acute mental health settings, and non-vented ICU patients who are transfer-ready.
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff across eight different units as part of the Float Pool.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures while providing critical care in a dynamic environment.
• Ensure proper documentation and patient management through the electronic medical record system (EPIC).

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Traveler.
• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• AHA BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.

Skills Required

• Proficient in telemetry monitoring, including measuring intervals and interpreting strips.
• Experience with TR Band and administering cardiac drips.
• Ability to manage a clinician-to-patient ratio of up to 5:1 during days/evenings and up to 6:1 during nights.

Work Environment

This position requires a willingness to float between units. The Float Pool offers a diverse experience, catering to a wide range of patients across the institution, which may include high-acuity settings.

Schedule

This role includes rotating shifts for days, evenings, and nights, with weekend responsibilities required. Options for full-time schedules (36 or 48 hours) will be available.
