Job Summary Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) Nurse Nights The organization is seeking a qualified RN specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry to join the team for a short-term assignment. This role involves caring for patients with neurological and trauma-related conditions on an acute care unit, with an emphasis on trauma experience, neuro unit background, and previous travel experience.
Job Details
Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Education and licensing: Active Illinois RN license or confirmation of application process, valid for the assignment start date
Years of experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a comparable healthcare setting
Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
Department: Neuro MedSurg Acute, 54 beds, with a focus on neuroscience, stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and related cases
Responsibilities include: Titration of heparin drips based on PTT, troubleshooting high flow oxygen therapy, reading telemetry strips, and providing patient care within the units protocols
Staff complement includes: Charge nurse on each shift, house supervisor available 24/7, patient care technicians, and telemetry monitors with Philips equipment
Float requirements: Float in rotation with the rest of the staff; float outside the general unit only for urgent needs and with proper skills competency
Orientation: 2 days for unit-specific training and 1 day of patient care shadowing with a preceptor
Additional notes: Compliance with departmental policies including drug-free campus, required documentation, and submission of last four digits of SSN
