Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 34-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving adolescent through elderly populations, including post-surgical and medical telemetry patients
Care for orthopedic patients including hip, knee, and shoulder replacements on a designated joint center of excellence unit, as well as general surgery cases such as appendectomies, exploratory laparotomies, and hernia repairs
Monitor and manage patients requiring telemetry and wall suction, including small bowel obstruction (SBO) cases, as this is the only unit equipped with wall suction
Operate within a care delivery model consisting of 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT per 9 patients; participate in modified team arrangements when full teams are unavailable
Float to other Medical Surgical units as needed
Provide weekend coverage on an every-other-weekend basis, with an expected 4 weekend shifts per month
Required Qualifications
Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — NY license must be in hand at time of submission
ACLS certification required
BLS certification required
NIHSS certification required
EPIC electronic health records experience is required
Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Experience with orthopedic or post-surgical patient populations
Familiarity with wall suction equipment and SBO patient management
