Float across MedSurg/Telemetry units as assigned, with primary assignment to high-census units; may also float to additional units including a Critical Care unit
Manage a patient load of approximately 1:5–6 (acuity-dependent), caring for patients with diagnoses including CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic, and oncology conditions
Read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently; monitor techs are available on most units but RN interpretation is required
Report to the clinical coordinator's office prior to shift start for daily unit assignment; expected to accept assignments within scope of practice, primarily basic telemetry patients
Participate in every-other-weekend scheduling (Saturday/Sunday) and rotate through the holiday schedule alongside permanent staff
Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, and respiratory therapy; RT manages all CPAP and BiPAP equipment
Required Qualifications
Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
Must successfully pass a facility cardiac rhythm exam prior to assignment
Must be able to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
A copy of a valid, unexpired driver's license is required at time of submission
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a MedSurg/Telemetry or float pool setting
Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
Experience caring for cardiac, oncology, or orthopedic patient populations
Comfort with variable unit assignments and adaptability to differing unit cultures and workflows
