Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a patient population that includes pulmonary, general medical, COPD, asthma, and tracheostomy patients, as well as patients with longer lengths of stay
Perform interpretation and management of dysrhythmias via continuous telemetry monitoring
Manage pulmonary patients requiring tracheostomy care, chest tubes, and supplemental oxygen including BiPAP/CPAP (no ventilators)
Document accurately using EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR communication frameworks
Maintain a patient ratio of 5:1, with potential to run 6:1 based on unit needs
Float within the service line as needed and fulfill a weekend requirement of 3 weekends (6 weekend shifts) every 6 weeks
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
BCLS certification required
NIH Stroke Scale certification required
Demonstrated skill in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior telemetry nursing experience
Experience with tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records
